CCP guidelines coming soon for this Ganesh Chaturthi

PANAJI
The Corporation of the City of Panaji is in the process of finalising some guidelines in consultation with the people and will release them soon.

"It is the people who have to cooperate so we will release specific guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi which will be in tune with the state government guidelines", said Deputy Mayor Vasant Agashikar.

"This year's guilldelines will be similar as last year guidelines. Firecrackers will be banned to prevent air pollution. There will be restrictions on processions during e-immersion of Ganesh idols," he said.

The Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav will be reduced to only religious programme. No crowd gathering cultural programs will be held, he added.

The CCP has already started cleaning the Ganesh Visarjan spots in the city area. Mayor Rohit Monserratte personally visited these sites and directed CCP staff to conduct repairs.

At many places damaged tiles are to be replaced and the Ganesh Visarjan spots will be illuminated.

Meanwhile, CCP is making arrangements for Astami Fair which is organised every year along the footpaths on the sides of Mandovi river from Panaji ferry to Kala Academy.

The CCP has appealed to the people to adhere to social distancing norms.

The fair is allowed following the guidelines of the state government. As we can't keep commercial activities closed, we will have regulated fair, said an CCP official.
