Panchayat opposes moving of Cortalim to proposed Zuarinagar PS

VASCO
Cortalim Panchayat has passed a resolution objecting to moves to shift the village to the jurisdiction of new proposed police station at Zuarinagar.

Speaking to reporters in Cortalim, Cortalim panch members Anthony Fernandes, Anita Kenkre and Raymond De Sa said the panchayat would soon send the unanimous resolution to government authorities for consideration.

Fernandes said the panchayat had received a letter from BDO regarding the police station. “We immediately told the sarpanch that we don’t want the village to move to the jurisdiction of the proposed police station. The Sarpanch also asked all other panch members and all members opposed the move.”

“We then unanimously passed a resolution that Cortalim village should not be included in the proposed police station at Zuarinagar,” said Fernandes.

De Sa said people from Cortalim have already opposed the move to shift Cortalim to the new police station jurisdiction because Verna is in close proximity and they want to remain under the jurisdiction of Verna police station.
