PANAJI
The Corporation of the City of Panaji has stepped in sending notices to the owners, tenants and occupants of the ground-plus-one mud, tiled-roof house opposite the 'Woodland' outlet on the MG Road in Panaji, portions of which have been collapsing bit by bit since last week.
Citing powers vested in him, CCP Commissioner Clen Medeira has asked over a dozen tenants (mostly ground floor shops and establishments) and also the owners of the edifice to evict and repair the structure failing which the Corporation will step in to take appropriate action.
Medeira's notice was pasted on the walls of the edifice in at least three locations.
Earlier, CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate along with officials had visited the site after a portion of the mud wall collapsed and the debris landed on the MG Road.
Officials from the office of the Deputy Collector as well as the Mamlatdar also visited the site to assess the situation. A team from the Panaji police station was also on the site when the officials conducted the inspection earlier this week.
