Huge pits dug up to construct a concrete structure near the Calangute beach.

Objecting to a concrete construction within the no-development zone on Calangute beach, alert Calangute residents have requested authorities to take action against the construction in order to protect the destruction of sand dunes and beach vegetation.
“The construction is taking place within 100 mts from the LTL where in steel and concrete is used to erect columns which are not permitted in the no-development zone as per CRZ rules,” said Premanand Divkar, President of Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF).
The CCF has informed that the construction was taking place at Tivai-vaddo.
“Huge pits have been dug and concrete reinforcement has been taking place at a rapid pace in the property,” Divkar said.
The CCF has written to the Deputy Collector, Bardez and the Member Secretary of Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority and the village panchayat against the transgression and demanded immediate action against the illegality.
“We file our strong objection to such projects within the jurisdiction of the Calangute panchayat and request you to initiate immediate action against the developer of the construction,” the CCF said in a letter.
Calangute Sarpanch Dinesh Simepuruskar informed that the panchayat has received a complaint and will conduct an inspection of the area.---
