The Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday announced government's plans to introduce healthcare services at people’s doorstep.
Addressing a press conference, Rane said that a meeting with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is scheduled to strengthen the health sector and ensure we provide health care at people’s doorstep. “There is a need for a complete overhaul. We are in need of doctors and ambulances. We have to put everything in place as the demand is increasing across State,” he said.
Rane said that a detailed proposal would be placed before the Chief Minister during the next meeting.
Meanwhile, Rane announced plans to establish a Centre for Excellence in Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). He said that a meeting with a prominent ENT and skull base specialist from Mumbai Dr Nishit Shah was held on Monday to formulate a plan.
“Endoscopic skull base surgery, performed through the nasal cavity with endoscopes, offers several advantages, including reduced operating time, access to previously inaccessible areas and large tumors, absence of facial scars, improved functional outcomes and shorter hospital stays,” Rane said.
Rane said that the government is on trajectory to create a Centre for Excellence at GMC, aspiring to make it the epitome of healthcare models in India.
“Establishing this centre will facilitate high-end surgery, maintaining the highest quality standards at an affordable cost,” he said.
