Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias tabled a question raising this issue and pointed out that the narrow approaches to the Chandor crossing affect several constituencies located in South Goa.
"The day we receive the NOC from SWRC, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation will begin the process of tendering. Only the NOC is awaited," Dhavalikar responded.
The government disclosed that the expenditure of the bridge portion of the overbridge will be shared equally between Goa government and SWRC. The work will be completed after 12 months from the date of issue of work order to the contractor, the written reply states.
Speaking about the financial estimates of the project, Dhavalikar stated, "The project estimates will be roughly Rs 500 crore. Hence, Goa government will have to have at least Rs 250 crore ready before commencing the work."
Meanwhile, responding to a question tabled by Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, the PWD Minister infomred the House that the ongoing JICA projects in the state are scheduled for completion by December 2018.
"By December 2017, the work on laying pipeline in Sanguem constituency will conclude and by March 2018, we will finish the work on reservoir in Sanguem," Dhavalikar assured the Sanguem MLA.
Chandor overbridge after NOC from railways
Minister for Public Works Ramakrishna ‘Sudin' Dhavalikar on Wednesday informed that the government is awaiting a No Objection Certificate from South Western Railway Corporation to begin the project of constructing the overbridge and underpass at Chandor railway crossing.
