"On the issue of speed governors when the Supreme Court says we have to do it, then we have to do it," Dhavalikar said.
However, Alemão questioned why nothing was being done despite the BJP being in power both in the State as well as at the Centre.
"I don't understand why it can't be done. You have been in power both at the Centre as well as in the State," Alemão said repeating his stand that if a taxi is to move from Mopa to the South of Goa a speed governor will ensure that he reaches the next day.
He was supported by Lobo who said that Goa being a small State that law should not be made applicable. "We need to hold a meeting of all taxi operators and understand their problems. Earlier too we have said this, but another meeting needs to be held," Lobo said.
Here, the chief minister intervened saying that a study is underway on what kind of relaxation can be given. "We will ask the Law department and take a legal decision," the Chief Minister said.
Earlier in the day, Curchorem legislator Nilesh Cabral spoke on behalf of rent-a-car operators, saying that their issues are yet to be resolved despite several meetings on the issue.
