MAPUSA
Unhappy over acute water shortage since the last 10 days, locals from Bandirwada-Chapora marched to the PWD office in Mapusa on Wednesday.
A delegation then met PWD Water Division Junior Engineer Shanti Desai and submitted a representation signed by 40 people.
Complaining that they have been forced to depend on private water tankers by paying large sums of money, they demanded a solution to their water problems by laying a special pipeline in the area.
The officials informed the delegation that for any demand for a new pipeline, the panchayat would have to first pass a resolution as the State government does not approve pipelines without proposals from panchayats.
The officials requested the delegation to get a resolution passed by the panchayat and also assured to temporarily solve the issue within the next five days.
The aggrieved residents complained that large residential projects and hotels in the area never faced water scarcity and even if they did face some water shortage, the PWD would send their water tankers.
