Chattisgarh man held for rape of elderly woman from Neura

The Agassaim police nabbed Anil Pascal Tigga (34) of Chattisgarh on charges of raping an elderly woman from Neura.

According to PI Vijay Rane, the accused is alleged to have raped the elderly woman after taking her to a jungle at Neura on November 21.

However, the woman lodged the complaint only on December 6 after she narrated the incident to a close relative as she was feeling depressed.

After the woman’s complaint, the police registered an offence against the accused under Section 376 IPC and nabbed the accused, on the same night, from the Sulcorna jungle, Quepem where the accused was staying along with his family in a hut.

Apart from PI Rane, the team which helped in nabbing the accused comprised PSI Yogesh Gadkar, Shridhar Kamat, head constable Kishore Amonkar and driver Suraj Naik.

The police produced the accused in the court on Monday and he has been remanded to three days in police custody.

LSPI Kavita Rawat is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Rane, Panaji SDPO Uttam Raut Dessai and North SP Utkrisht Prasoon.
