A counter-terrorism mock security drill was undertaken by the commandoes of National Security Guard (NSG) in a joint operation with Goa Police at the Goa Assembly complex in Porvorim and in the waters of River Mandovi as well as along its banks.
The drill is likely to continue till Wednesday with the intention of strengthening of the state’s anti-terror and security protocols. Additionally, Goa’s Anti Terrorism Squad will receive inputs on handling terror threats from the NSG during these exercises.
A meeting to schedule these drills was convened in the last week of November at the Goa Police Headquarters.
On Monday, fire tenders and ambulances were seen rushing towards the Goa Assembly complex where the teams of NSG and Goa Police conducted a mock exercise of handling bomb threats.
Additionally, the Captain of Ports and Coastal Guard vessels were roped in to securitize the waters and banks of River Mandovi. Several NSG commandoes were seen patrolling the Santa Monica jetty on Monday evening as a part of the ongoing exercise.
