A group of renal failure patients undergoing dialysis at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Canacona recently approached the Canacona Congress team to address their concerns about the Dialysis Centre’s facilities.
Congress District (South) General Secretary (Organisation) Gasper Coutinho received complaints from patients about difficulties encountered during their visits to the CHC Dialysis Centre. Coutinho, along with some affected patients, met Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares to discuss their grievances.
The CHC Dialysis Unit serves over 150 dialysis patients out of more than 200 renal failure patients in the taluka. Patients had expressed frustration with having to move from the second floor, where the dialysis unit is located, to the ground floor to collect necessary injections, then return to the second floor. Dr Tavares acknowledged this issue and agreed to ensure that injections are available within the dialysis unit itself, issuing instructions to prevent further inconvenience.
Additionally, Dr Tavares addressed complaints about the cleanliness of the unit’s toilets and instructed staff to resolve these issues immediately. He also criticised the PWD for delays in fixing plumbing issues but promised that action would be taken promptly.
