The Chicalim Panchayat gram sabha, chaired by Sarpanch Kamala Prasad Yadav, discussed several important issues on Sunday. The Gram Sabha strongly opposed the Sunburn festival in South Goa but supported equal status for Romi Lipi.
Speaking to the media, Sarpanch Kamala Prasad Yadav mentioned that various issues were addressed during the meeting. One major concern was the sewerage problem caused by buildings near Vishal Mega Mart. “The panchayat has removed unauthorized pipelines draining sewerage into the nearby nullah. We will disconnect power supply if anyone is caught violating rules or dumping sewage in the open,” said Yadav.
Regarding the stray dog issue, the panchayat has contacted People for Animals (PFA) and plans to work with NGOs to tackle the problem effectively. To enhance green cover, some residents have started planting trees in open spaces in their neighborhoods.
“While the panchayat supports these efforts, we want to clarify that these areas must remain accessible to everyone. Plans are underway to develop all open spaces within the Chicalim panchayat area for community use,” Yadav added.
The Gram Sabha also discussed plot development. Once approvals and NOCs from the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) are obtained, site inspections will ensure proper road construction and adherence to developer commitments. Occupancy certificates will be issued based on compliance with these standards. Yadav emphasized the panchayat’s commitment to addressing these issues and enhancing the overall development of the Chicalim area.
