Power outages and interruptions in the villages of Chinchinim and Sarzora took centre stage at the gram sabhas of the village panchayats on Sunday.
Gram sabha members complained of power fluctuations at their respective gram sabha meetings, demanding that the panchayat write to the Power Department for rectification.
At the Chinchinim gram sabha, chaired by Sarpanch Valentino Barretto, members drew the chair’s attention to the power outages in the village. They demanded that the panchayat draw the attention of the Power Minister, Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar, to the power disruptions.
Sarpanch Barretto replied to the gram sabha members that the panchayat had in the past taken up with the Power Department the power failures that had affected normal life in the village.
The issue also figured at the gram sabha of the neighbouring Sarzora panchayat when the members requested Sarpanch Leona Fernandes to take up the matter with the Power Department.
