Chicalim theft case solved

Vasco Police on Sunday recovered gold and other electronic items that were stolen from a house at Chicalim on Christmas night.
According to Vasco Police, Juleka Fernandes had complained that she along with her family members had gone for the midnight mass on December 24. When they returned at about 1.45 am on December 25, they found the lock of the front door missing and the door latched from inside. Gold worth Rs 93,000, mobile phone (Rs 18,000) and camera (Rs 70,000) were found missing from the house.
Acting on the complaint, the police kept the IMEI number of the mobile tracking and the phone was found switched off. On January 7, the mobile was found in operation at New Vaddem.
Police said they took the accused into custody and during interrogation, he revealed that he committed the crime. The mobile was recovered from the accused.
Police informed that the accused also revealed that he sold the gold to a goldsmith, while the camera was given to one person from Birla Zuari Nagar. The police recovered the gold from the goldsmith, who had melted it and converted it into gold bar, and took the accused from Birla into custody, but failed to recover the camera.
The police said they arrested the two accused under Sections 457, 380 IPC and is investigating the case.
