The Chicalim Village Development Committee (VDC) members met on Saturday to prepare the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) 2021-22.
At the meeting chaired by Sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira and VDC Convenor Custodio D’Costa, most VDC members provided constructive suggestions towards planned development of Chicalim village.
Issues raised by VDC members included finance resource generation, garbage management, sanitation, ground water management, illegal bore wells, stray cattle nuisance, dry waste problem, etc.
Though only one member, Alka Damle, placed her suggestions in writing in advance, the secretary has requested all those present as well as other members to submit in writing all suggestions that need to be incorporated into the GPDP within the next week so that the same can be taken up for next meeting on December 19.
The members emphasised that if the Chicalim villagers continue to play an active
and vibrant role, the village shall see sensible development which is woven around its people, instead of the present method wherein people are woven around the development.
VDC members Cyril Fernandes, Dr Wanda Araujo, Roopa Naik, Cynthia Miranda, Zina Varugis and former sarpanch Pratap Mardolkar were among those who gave their inputs in the planning process of the GPDP.
