Children's court acquits one for assaulting daughter

Goa Children’s Court on Wednesday acquitted Samsuddin Alan, 46, in a case registered in May 2014 for assaulting his minor daughter.

Children’s Court president Vandana Tendulkar has allowed an appeal period of six months for Alan to challenge the verdict.

The case was registered by Bicholim police station on May 4, 2014 and the accused was arrested under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult) of IPC and Section 8 (2) (child abuse) and 2 (m) (i) (psychological and physical abuse, cruelty and emotional maltreatment) of Goa Children’s Act, 2003.

He was placed in police custody for two days and was released on bail thereafter.

Adv Vallabh Falari represented the accused before the Children’s Court.
