The Chimbel locals were left fuming as the gram sabha was adjourned by sarpanch Sandesh Shirodkar without any clarity on the date that it would be re-convened.
Trouble started as the villagers sought to know why they were not given copies of minutes of previous gram sabha, income and expenditure for 2022-23 and administrative reports for 2021-2022 & 2022-23.
“Without copies of minutes, income and expenditure, and administrative reports how are we supposed to give approvals for the same?” questioned a villager.
Later, the villagers suggested that the gram sabha be adjourned to a later date with the villagers given advance copies of the minutes of the previous gram sabha, income and expenditure, and administrative reports.
Sarpanch Shirodkar agreed and said that he is adjourning the gram sabha and re-convening the same in fifteen days.
However, RGP leader and local Ajay Kholkar objected to the same and said that the adjourned gram sabha has to be reconvened on next Sunday.
“The sarpanch cannot decide to reconvene the adjourned gram sabha as and when he wants,” Kholkar pointed out.
As the discussion was going on, sarpanch Shirodkar announced that the gram sabha has been adjourned without announcing when it would be re-convened.
The villagers waited patiently for over an hour and were later informed by the reporters that the sarpanch has announced that the gram sabha would be re-convened next Sunday i.e. June 4.
Kholkar condemned the actions of the sarpanch stating that it is an insult to the villagers who waited for over an hour without any clarity on the date when the adjourned gram sabha would be re-convened.
