The village panchayat of Chinchinim has knocked the doors of the Cuncolim police to stop the nuisance created by the dumping of animal waste in the Panchayat jurisdiction.

The Panchayat  has also called for improving the facilities at the Cuncolim police station to meet the requirements.

In fact, Tuesday saw a delegation of the Panchayat led by Sarpanch Valentino Baretto, panchayat members and citizens calling on Cuncolim police station in-charge, PI Diogo Gracias with a plea to maintain vigil on miscreants dumping animal waste, especially along the Chinchinim-Deussua bypass road.

In the memorandum, the panchayat pointed out that animal waste is being frequently dumped along the roadside, more so on the Chinchinim-Deussua bypass road.

In this respect, the panchayat has lodged an official complaint with the Cuncolim police against unknown persons with a plea to take strict action by maintaining strict vigil through patrolling.

Meanwhile, Sarpanch Valentino Barretto later told the media that the government should tone up the basic infrastructure of the Cuncolim police station, including vehicles and personnel, on top most priority.

He said Sarpanchas of village panchayats, which come under the Cuncolim police jurisdiction will also meet shortly and make a joint plea to the government to focus attention on the sorry state of logistics at the Cuncolim police station.

Panchayat member Frank Viegas said that since the police station is the first contact point for any situation, the government should ensure that the Cuncolim police is equipped with both manpower and vehicles to meet the requirements.

“We have come across the sorry state of logistics and infrastructure at the Cuncolim police  station. The government should accord top most priority to tone up the infrastructure”, Frank added.
