Velim MLA Benjamin ÄŽ'Silva on Sunday said the Velim Church case fiasco would not affect him politically in the coming election.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a cultural function at Raia on Sunday, Benjamin said that the government did its best to withdraw the case, but the victim police officials did not agree to the withdrawal. The government was sincere in getting the case withdrawn, but the policemen opposed the plea, he added.
Replying to a question, the Velim MLA said he would contest the coming election as an Independent. During my tenure as an MLA, I have ushered a lot of development in Velim constituency and I am confident my work will keep me in good stead, he added.
