Advising former minister Churchill Alemao not to don the role of an astrologer to predict the winners of the Lok Sabha polls, Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Sunday demanded that Churchill should explain to Benaulikars why he could not get the western bypass on stilts in Benaulim when he showered praises on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant as the Bahujan Samaj Chief Minister.
He said Churchill needs to reply why the western bypass on stilts has become a reality on the Fatorda stretch of the road while the Benaulim stretch of the bypass is being executed via landfilling.
“If Churchill feels that the Chief Minister has put massive infrastructure in place in Goa, he should answer why the western bypass could not be put on stilts in Benaulim. The failure to build the bypass on stilts on the Benaulim stretch poses a danger during the monsoons and both the CM and Churchill will have to take responsibility for the flooding and inundation in Benaulim and surrounding areas,” Sardesai said.
Referring to Churchill’s prediction that the BJP will win both the Lok Sabha seats, Sardesai said the former Benaulim MLA should not play the role of an astrologer on behalf of someone.
“Churchill knows that Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had once said that Goan people are different. The people of Goa will take a call in the 2024 election,” he said.
