Nationalist Congress Party Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday said he has managed to get Ladli Laxmi scheme benefits to around 500 beneficiaries in his constituency amounting to a whopping Rs five crore.

Promising to complete all pending works before the 2022 election, Churchill exuded confidence that people would re-elect him based on his performance in the last five years.

At a function organized to hand over Ladli Laxmi scheme sanction letters to 124 beneficiaries at his office on Saturday, Churchill said he would ensure that the remaining application for the scheme are cleared before the election.

Saying only the people of Benaulim and not the leaders will decide his fate in the 2022 election, Churchill unveiled the list of development projects undertaken by him in the constituency during the current term. “People of Seraulim village will soon get the relief at the railway crossing as work on the long-pending underpass has commenced. The underpass will be opened for traffic before the election”, he said.

Claiming that Khareband did not witness flooding in the last monsoons, Churchill took pot shops at his opponents for taking to the social media to paint him black over the river Sal and other development works.

Referring to the collapse of the retaining wall at Orlim in the first rains, the MLA said the GSIDC is on the job to find out the reasons, saying the contractor has been asked to do the reconstruction at his cost.
