Asserting he would soon be part of the Congress party, former Minister Mickky Pacheco has on Saturday said it was not out of love for the BJP that he had supported the Manohar Parrikar government in 2012, but because of public expectations and the huge mandate given to the BJP to rule the state.
Admitting he had in the past supported the BJP government in 2012, he said “Mickky was not the only person, but entire Goa had given the mandate to the BJP for a better government after rejecting the Congress. But, as time passed, I had withdrawn my support after I realized that the BJP let down the common man”, he said.
Addressing the media, Mickky said it is just a matter of time he join the Congress with 3000 people, promising to revamp the Congress ahead of the 2022 election. “I would ensure that no Congress MLA leaves the party after election”, he said.
Reiterating that the smaller political parties are horse traders, Mickky said the Congress should not forge any alliance with these parties in the coming Assembly election.
Saying that he was never against the Congress, Mickky said that he was against some of the Congress leaders, who are no more in the party, adding that some of these leaders would move out after he join the party. “Let me officially join the Congress and those leaders, who have one foot in the Congress and second in other parties will leave the organization after my entry”, he said.
“I gauged the situation during the Congress regime and now. It’s time to go to the Congress because the common man was living a better life”, he said, while promising to work as a loyal solider and ensure the party returns to power.
He said the government will be solely responsible if there’s a surge in COVID cases following the CZMP public hearing, accusing the government for bulldozing with the hearing in times of pandemic.
