The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will flag off the second edition of the CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon“2026 on January 28. The nationwide event aims to create awareness about coastal security, promote national unity and encourage community participation.
The cyclothon will be flagged off virtually by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. This was stated by DIG AP/WZ N Prakash Reddy while briefing the media at the HRD Centre near the administrative building of MPA Goa.
The cyclothon will cover 6,553 km over 25 days. Two CISF cycling teams will start simultaneously from Lakhpat Fort in Gujarat on the west coast and Bakkhali in West Bengal on the east coast. Both teams will travel along the coastline and meet at Kochi on February 22.
The event will involve 130 CISF personnel, including 65 women cyclists. Along the route, the teams will interact with fishermen and coastal residents, promote fitness, environmental care and cleanliness, and highlight the role of coastal communities in protecting the nation’s shores.
