Citizens call on govt agencies to streamline online services

MARGAO

Citizens have called upon government agencies to streamline online services to provide prompt services especially when certain departments had made online mandatory to obtain permissions.

A resident of Carmona realized the bitter truth of online services when he was trying to get an NOC from the Health Department for taking a shop on lease.

When the citizen approached the Urban Health Centre, he was told that the NOC is now being issued online and hence he will have to obtain the permission online.

However, he found to his shock and surprise that the service was not working at all leaving him high and dry.

“The online service has been provided to simplify the process of obtaining licences by applying from home. But, it's frustrating and annoying as there is no helpline. It looks like we are in the dark ages of the internet with so many advances, we are stuck with systems for days,” the citizen added.

Calling for the simplification of the process in a better way, the citizen pointed out that if GEL is not in a position to provide the service, then the government should rope in experienced agencies to deliver a better interface and user experience, wherein the process and experience will be better and people will be able to work and apply from office or home.

“Even the site gets redirected to them wherein you complain to them itself, for which again you have to register. There should be another agency to deal with complaints only and the complainant should be verified with OTP and/or email ID which would follow up on the complaints and update the resolution to the complainant and the government,” he added.

He also complained that phones are put down without listening to the grievances by saying they will call back in five minutes.
