City in shambles, but CCP eyeing ISO tag

PANAJI

The capital city may be in shambles, its streets excavated to execute the 'Smart City' projects, but the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) has set its sights on earning the ISO 9001:2015 certification tag at all costs.

The CCP is on the lookout for a consultant who will help it obtain the ISO 9001:2015 certification and has called for bids from potential consultants and companies asking them to submit their 'Expression of Interest' for the job.

The State government is also on a mission to earn ISO certification for its various departments and offices.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had recently publicly appealed to all the State government's departments to work towards earning ISO certification.

Meanwhile, the capital city continued to be a nightmare for both residents and visitors with several of the city's roads still unusable due to the ongoing "Smart City' works.

Residents fear that excavated mud dumped waywardly may choke the stormwater drains and the ongoing work could leave crucial pre-monsoon desilting work incomplete.

The capital city in many areas has a Portuguese-era underground network of stormwater drains crucial for the flow of residual rainwater into the Mandovi river. Many fear this network is either damaged or disturbed by the contractors executing the Smart City works putting the city under the threat of flooding during the upcoming monsoon.
