Cleanliness prog takes off in Cuncolim
Roads will be cleaned, drain covers replaced and roads illuminated

The Cuncolim Municipal Council on Tuesday launched its 12-day cleanliness programme under the Swaahh Bharat Nitol Goem mission.
Under the programme, the civic body will not only take up cleanliness around the heart of the town, but will also illuminate the road stretch with lamps and replace the broken slabs over the drains.
The programme was launched in the presence of Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik, with Chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas seeking the cooperation of the citizens to make the programme a success.
Councilor Sashank Desai outlined the programme and mission under the Swachh Bharat Mission and the council’s plan to implement the programme within the Cuncolim municipal jurisdiction.
Arouund 50 students of the five high schools located in the town participated in the mission. The council will provide them implements at the end of the programme.
As per the programme, the CMC will clean up the entire road from the bus stand to the Khope shop and from Culvaddo to Raghoba Desai and the Palki road. Non-functioning lamps and broken slabs along the entire stretch will be replaced by the council under the programme, informed CMC vice-chairperson Mario Moraes.
