Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva on Tuesday launched the work on the 750 cubic meter overhead water reservoir at the tourist village of Cavelossim, costing Rs 1 crore.
Launching the work under the JICA project in the presence of Cavelossim Sarpanch Viola D’Costa, Deputy Sarpanch Laju Miranda, panch member Edwin Barretto and others, the Benaulim MLA said the overhead water reservoir will go a long way in mitigating the hardships faced by the Cavelossim villagers on the water supply front. “The overhead tank will not only help the villagers to get uninterrupted water supply, but will boost the water pressure," the MLA said.
While thanking the local Comunidade for making available the land for the purpose, Caitu said the project will be completed before the onset of monsoons. “People of Cavelossim were facing severe hardships over the water supply front. I had promised them that a solution will be found out to the long pending problem," he said, while making it categorically clear that only the villagers, and not the starred hotels, will benefit out of the overhead reservoir."
