A day after the Azad Maidan rally against the Planning department, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday threw a gauntlet at the Congress leader to come clear whether they are in favour of the construction of the Borda Church and the Fab India-Agalli ring road.
He said the Fab India-Agalli ring road has been taken up by him with Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari after the Church leaders as well as some RSS separately demanded the ring road and help decongest the city.
“Nitin Gadkari has agreed to my request. The estimates for the ring road are being prepared. Let the Congress leaders who have said that fields will be converted to build the Borda Church and the ring road are opposed to the project. I am ready to drop the ring road at this stage if the Church and the Congress are opposed to the project,”
he said.
Saying that the Congress leaders should not make statements for the sake of making statements, Sardesai said the Congress should take a call whether they want the new Church or not, because the beneficiary of the ring road will be the Church.
“I want a clear decision on the ring road from the Congress and the Borda citizens. I am ready to drop the ring project. Let the Congress come clear,” he challenged.
