Former Minister Mickky Pacheco on Saturday said he would file an affidavit in the Bombay High Court to prove that matka and other gambling activities are continuing right near the police stations.

He has also demanded that the Superintendent of Police, South Arvind Gawas, DySP Raju Raut Desai and Police station in-charge of Maina-Curtorim police station, PI Pravin Kumar Vast should seek transfer if they cannot handle the law and order situation in the district.

Addressing the media to demand a thorough inquiry in the kidnapping and assault of Loutolim resident Eurico Oliveira three days back, Mickky demanded that the Maina-Curtorim police has failed to nab the culprits involved in the murderous attack on Oliveira. “The assailants had demanded that Oliveira hand over the stolen gold ornaments. This shows that some persons had given supari to the assailants to attack Oliveira,” Mickky said, adding that the Maina-Curtorim police has failed to nab the assailants and resolve the assault and kidnapping case.

He alleged that the Goa police is not conducting inquiries in such incidents basically they are hand in gloves with the organisers of illegal activities.

The former Minister demanded to know why gambling activities are taking place within 500 metre radius of the office of the district Superintendent of Police, Arvind Gawas and DySP Raju Raut Desai. “If the SP and DySP cannot put an end to the illegal activities, they should make way for other police officers. Maina-Curtorim PI Pravin Kumar Vast should also seek transfer if he cannot handle a police station,” he said.

Mickky further underlined the need to check and verify the assets of police officers in the State of Goa.

Replying to a question, Mickky said he is in the process of collecting photographic evidence of the gambling activities close to the police stations across the State, adding that he would soon file an affidavit in the High Court to substantiate his allegation that gambling activities are going on with connivance of the men-in-uniform.
