Vijai-Vishwajit bonhomie under observers’ scanner?

The growing bonhomie between these two young Ministers in the coalition government “ Vijaibab Sardesai and Vishwajitbab Rane “ has come under the scanner of political observers across the political spectrum. Hardly around two months ago, when the formalin row had raised its ugly head in fish markets, relations between the two Ministers had hit a low, so much so, that many even believed that relationship between the duo was beyond repair. Post-admission of ailing Chief Minister Manoharbab Parrikar in the AIIMS Delhi seems to have brought Vijaibab and Vishwajitbab together. Upon Vijaibab’s insistence, the Health Minister had twice descended in Saxttidom before promising to rope in an expert agency to take care of the health concerns of fish loving Goans. Anything cooking between the duo? Just keep your fingers crossed.

‘The Streets’ is Cong’s new strategy
What is the Congress leadership up to, is a question doing the rounds in Saxttidom as the party seems to be literally on a war path and on the roads, in recent times? AICC general secretary Chella Kumar had once remarked that politics is all about strategy. Is the Congress party’s sustained attack on the coalition government part of a strategy vetted by the party leadership? Even Congress workers cannot keep a count of the number of times the party leaders had called on the Governor, besides the protest rallies and meetings organised by the party over the last three months. That Chellaji prefers to descend on the roads and the markets is an indication that the leadership keeps a track of the contribution of the local party leaders in the ongoing campaign against the government. Wait and watch.

Babu plays his part in mobilising crowd
When it comes to crowd mobilisation, there’s second to none to Leader of the Opposition, Babu Kavlekar. If Babu had flooded the Fatorda SAG grounds with his vocal supporters to ensure the success of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi’s election rally in the run up to the 2017 Assembly election, he repeated the feat yet again earlier this week. Of the 70 buses that were roped in by the Congress leaders to transport party workers for the Panaji rally, Babu’s contribution was around 22 buses, as he is believed to have mobilised a sizeable number of workers for the event. Sources said that AICC general secretary in-charge of Goa desk, Dr Chella Kumar was pleased by Babu’s gesture as he led from the front in making the rally a success. Any doubts?

...And so does Digambar
Hazard a guess which Congress MLA from Saxttidom managed to hire maximum buses to transport party workers for the Chalo Panaji rally earlier this week. Sources close to district Congress president, Joebab Dias said that former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Diggu put his heart and soul to mobilise a huge crowd of supporters for the rally. In fact, Joebab says that Diggu arranged as many as 16 buses to ferry the Congress supporters from Margao for the Panaji rally. Other party MLAs from Saxttidom were way behind Diggu in mobilising the crowd, leaving many a Congress leader to wonder whether the former Chief Minister is bracing up to shoulder major roles in the Congress in the coming days. Wait and watch.

Formalin row ‘erupts’ within Goa Forward
Goa Forward chief spokesperson Trajanbab D’Mello seems to have preferred to attack party supremo Vijaibab Sardesai where it hit him the most. That he took pot shots at Vijaibab on Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn by raking up the sensitive formalin issue indicates that the seasoned Trajanbab knew where exactly to hit the party supremo. What, however, has come as a surprise to many in Saxttidom was Trajanbab’s timings as his criticism came on a day when Vijaibab along with Vishwajitbab Rane were huddled inside the Matanhy Saldanha Complex to take on a call on engaging an expert to test fish laced with formalin. Was Vijaibab aware that Trajanbab was bracing up to attack him on the formalin row or did the GF chief spokesperson launch his attack on the party president after the high level meeting in the Collectorate. Only time will tell.
