CANACONA

In his familiar clarion call of “Canconkarank Bhivpachi Garaz Na” (Canconkars need not fear), Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday the people of Canacona would get all possible government assistance with the support of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar.

Sawant was speaking at a function to lay the foundation stones to construct two houses of late Somnath Mirashi of Ziltawadi (Gaondongrim) and Kamlakar Gaonkar of Baddem (Khotigao) under the BJP Seva Saptah programme, in the presence of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and others.

On the occasion, the chief minister announced Rs 1 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Fund to construct houses to the two needy families.

“We have just launch the Swyampurna Goa 2.0 to work even vigorously for the poorest of the poor in the State. In the last 3 years, we announced and even gave financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh to build a new house and Rs 1.5 lakh for repairs under the Swayampurna Goa 1.0 identified by Swyampurna Mitras.”

“Under the Sarkar Tumchea Dhari, the government had visited each constituency, but in Swayampurna Goa 2.0, we will go a step ahead and the government will effectively visit 2-3 village panchayats.”

“Any Goan resident in any part of Goa should get all their basic needs as their 'Right to Live'. They should have a proper house, electricity, water and two meals in a day. More importantly, their children should study and this is my main aim and concern,” said Sawant.

The chief minister added that Tawadkar had said there were 10-12 households identified in Canacona which did not have proper shelters.

“I assure you that even if there are 20 or more houses, each of these houses will get Rs 1 lakh lakh from the CM Relief Fund which are identified by Karyakartas, besides the eligible amounts of Rs 2.50 lakh or whatever from schemes applicable.”

He advised the BJP karyakartas to be more responsible social workers and to identify and report those needy families living in poverty and to reach to the aid of such families.

“Whenever you need government assistance, your MLA and Speaker is with you, just give us order and government will be at your door to assist you. I assure and quote once again “Canconkarank Bhivpachi Garaz Na”,” said Sawant.

Earlier, the chief minister visited the huts of the two families and assured them of assistance from the government.

The two houses are being built under the BJP Seva Saptah programme and the chief minister put in a certain amount in the donation/contribution box, followed by CMC Chairperson Simon Rebello and a few other councillors. Former CMC Dy Chairperson Kishore Shet announced Rs 10,000 as his contribution.

During his visit to Canacona, the chief minister visited Partagal Math and met Shri Vidhyadeesha Teerta Swamiji of the Shri Jeevotam Gokarna Partagali Mutt.
