St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes alleged that a minister is involved in stopping work on the futsal ground.
“My son is undertaking construction of the ground in collaboration with a company and when we initially approached the Chimbel panchayat, we were granted permission for the project. However, later under political pressure, the panchayat revoked its license and we were asked to get TCP license,” Fernandes informed.
“However, when we approached the TCP department, they informed us that since there is no concrete construction involved there is no need of TCP license. After that, we attached the TCP reply and again applied for NOC from Chimbel panchayat,” Fernandes added.
“But, even after four months there was no reply from the panchayat and my legal advisors informed me that since the panchayat failed to respond, it was deemed that the permission was granted,” the MLA stated and informed that they then decided to go ahead with the construction.
“But now, suddenly under pressure from a minister, some person complains to the panchayat and raises objection. And, the panchayat, without issuing show-cause notice, stops the work,” Fernandes pointed out.
“But we continued with the work and today, the work has been forcibly stopped under political pressure. Both the panchayat and the police have been pressured to act by the minister,” Fernandes decried.
