To strengthen the State’s action against cybercrime, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant insisted on advanced training for police personnel
Sawant, who attended the concluding day of a specialized two-day training session on ‘Cyber Crime and Financial Frauds Investigation’ further highlighted the critical need for proactive measures to combat the evolving landscape of cybercrime, particularly concerning trending issues like child kidnapping.
“There’s a need for proactive measures and ongoing skill development to combat cybercrime effectively. All police personnel should undertake massive cyber awareness campaigns in their areas,” the CM added while assuring all support to enhance the cyber capability of the Goa Police.
The session saw the participation of 297 police personnel in person and another 504 joining via video conferencing.
Director General of Police Alok Kumar echoed the CM’s sentiments, stating Goa’s commitment to becoming a leader in cybercrime prevention. He also stressed the importance of outreach activities in local languages and highlighted the necessity of building a solid foundation of well-trained personnel to effectively counter digital threats.
Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh acknowledged the critical role of the training in enhancing investigative skills for the safety and security of citizens while Rajesh Kumar, CEO of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre that organized the session, stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the state and the Coordination Centre to address the rising trends in cybercrime.
