A slew of development projects were launched in Cuncolim on the occasion of the birthday of local MLA Clafacio Dias, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant exuding confidence that the people of Cuncolim will stand by the MLA in the future as well.
Chief Minister’s brother-in-law, Cuncolim Municipal Councilor Videsh Desai went a step ahead saying no one can stop Clafacio’s victory in the 2022 Assembly election, exuding confidence that the people will elect a bhumiputra by destroying a Narkasura. He said Clafacio will represent Cuncolim again, asserting the BJP will repeat history again in 2022 by winning the Cuncolim seat.
The Chief Minister began his tour of the constituency by inaugurating a sub-health centre and laying the foundation stone for a fire station in Cuncolim. After laying the foundation stone, the Chief Minister announced two new vehicles, a rescue and water tender for the fire services, which will function from Cuncolim when the fire station takes shape within a month.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to fulfill the promises made to the Congress-turned-BJP MLA by ushering in both infrastructural and human development. “The issue of fire station and emergency care centre were pending for a long time. The MLA had pursued these projects. I want to reassure that this government will stand by the Cuncolim MLA to complete the balance works”, the Chief Minister said.
In his address, the Cuncolim MLA thanked the Chief Minister and the Health Minister for sanctioning the emergency care centre. He took the platform to score some brownie points over his opponents for trying to stall development projects. “MLAs come and go but the work carried out the MLA will benefit the people. People will decide whether they are happy with the MLA’s performance or not”, he said.
Saying he is indebted to the Chief Minister for completing most of his works, Clafacio said the Chandor underpass, which was pending for decades now, will be inaugurated at the hands of the Chief Minister later in the evening. “God has given me a new life after I was down with COVID. The people are free to decide whom to elect as their representatives”, he said as he vowed to fulfill the promises made to the people.
