Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday paid tribute to Sahibzadas Baba Jorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, at the Gurudwara at Mangor Hill in Vasco.
Veer Bal Diwas was observed at the Gurudwara to remember the great sacrifice and bravery of the two young Sahibzadas. Devotees and dignitaries gathered to honour the martyrs, whose courage continues to inspire people.
Sawant visited the Gurudwara along with Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and other dignitaries. The chief minister also joined the langar and was seen serving food to devotees along with the two MLAs, showing the spirit of seva.
Speaking to the media, Sawant said Veer Bal Diwas is being observed across the country after an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas.
“I have come to the Gurudwara at Mangor on behalf of the Goa government to pay tribute to Sahibzadas Baba Jorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. Their bravery and sacrifice will always inspire the youth,” he said.
He added that the observance reflects India’s culture of unity and harmony.
“India is a peace-loving country where people of different religions live together. This Gurudwara, the oldest in Mormugao taluka, is a symbol of that unity. The Gurudwara management has done good work in observing Veer Bal Diwas in a meaningful way,” the chief minister said.
The programme ended with prayers, as devotees remembered the values of faith, courage and sacrifice shown by the Sahibzadas.
