Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, his colleague Vishwajit Rane, other ministers and politicians are among a multitude of tweeps from across the world to lose the 'verified blue tick' for their Twitter accounts after the social media behemoth took the action on Thursday.
The company belonging to Tesla owner Elon Musk which owns the popular micro-blogging site had made providing a 'verified blue tick' a paid service last year and warned that those who didn't subscribe and pay up $8 per month, will lose the verification.
On Thursday the company acted and a multitude of twitter handles of personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pope Francis, Bollywood megastars among others lost the blue tick feature since Thursday.
Official twitter handles of political parties in India too lost the blue tick as did cricketers Virat Kholi and Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Gandhi siblings Rahul and Priyanka, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and a host of others.
Global biggies who also lost the feature include former US President Donald Trump, singer Beyonce and talk show Diva Oprah Winfrey.
