Expressing confidence in the leadership of Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the people of the constituency would once again give him an opportunity to serve them in the next Assembly term, considering the significant development achieved during the past five years.
The chief minister was addressing a function organised to celebrate the birthday of Dr Shetye at Hirabai Zantye Hall in Bicholim. Present on the dais were BJP State President Damu Naik, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, MLAs Premendra Shet, Rajesh Phal Dessai, Pravin Arlekar, and Sankalp Amonkar, former MP Vinay Tendulkar, BJP North Goa District President Dayanand Karbotkar, Vallabh Sarkar, and other dignitaries.
Speaking further, Sawant said the State government had extended full support to every development proposal submitted by Dr Shetye during his tenure as MLA.
Responding to the felicitation, Dr Shetye said he entered politics only after the age of fifty. Before joining public life, he had never experienced criticism, but after entering politics he had to face it despite working sincerely for the welfare of the people.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte described Dr Shetye as a dedicated, knowledgeable and development-oriented legislator.
BJP State President Damu Naik observed that although Dr Shetye was elected as an Independent MLA, he had worked closely with the BJP government over the last five years. Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar praised Dr Shetye's systematic approach in presenting development proposals and pursuing them until completion.
Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said within a short span, Dr Shetye had successfully combined effective politics with development, transforming Bicholim through his commitment and determination.
MLA Premendra Shet, MLA Pravin Arlekar, and former MP Vinay Tendulkar also addressed the gathering and extended their birthday greetings to Dr Chandrakant Shetye, appreciating his dedicated service to the people of Bicholim.
