PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant clarified that no teacher has been removed, stating that contractual teachers were promoted and transferred to other institutions. He urged teachers and students to address their concerns through dialogue and discussion rather than protests.
While addressing the Teachers’ Day programme on Saturday, the Sawant said that teachers who had been working on a contractual or lecture basis for the past three years had not been removed and would not be removed in the future.
He said the promotion of some teachers, which had been delayed, was fast-tracked, resulting in the Education Department transferring them to other institutions.
Sawant directed SCERT and the Directorate of Education (DoE) to streamline the process and ensure that the teachers receive their promotions and that the situation is restored to normal. He said the process would take around three months.
“Once the process is streamlined, we will post them properly in different ways. They will be posted to the same high school, or the nearest school,” the Sawant said.
Sawant also urged teachers to avoid strikes and resolve their grievances through discussions. “There is no need for the students to strike. In our state, no problem is solved by striking rather it is solved through discussion,” he said.
He asked students with grievances to approach DoE and resolve their concerns through the department.
