In another significant reshuffle of the middle and higher level bureaucracy, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday tweaked some portfolios of several of the Secretary level IAS cadre bureaucrats.
Parrallely, Sawant also appointed IAS topper Vandana Rao who reported to the State government recently as Director of Education.
Accordingly, Nagaraj Honnekari, who was holding charge of the education department’s director’s post, has been relieved.
Yet another IAS officer who was recently posted to Goa, Ankita Anand, has been appointed as Director of Information Technology.
A third new IAS officer Hemant Kumar was posted as Inspector General of Prisons, according to the order issued on Friday by Under Secretary (Personnel) Sashank
Thakur.
According to the order, Kumar will also hold the additional charge of Executive Director of the Sports Authority of India.
Meanwhile some portfolios held by the 15 Secretaries to the State Government, all IAS officers, were also reshuffled by another order issued by Thakur.
Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, will now have Vigilance, Home, Personnel, Administrative Reforms Department, Public Works and Civil Aviation.
The departments of power, Non-Conventional energy, Urban Development, Forest, Environment, Science and Technology have been allocated to Punnet Kumar Goel and P Krishnamurthy, who was principal secretary to the chief minister during the tenure of the late Manohar Parrikar, continues in that position besides holding the position of Principal Resident Commissioner, New Delhi.
One or two departments of some other Secretaries too have been reshuffled and redistributed.
