Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar led the State in commemorating the 55th Liberation Day, held for the first time outside the capital city and in the Athletic Stadium at Bambolim.
Parsekar dressed in patriotic outfit unfurled the national flag sharp at 9:15 am before he proceeded to inspect the guard of honour of 25 companies of Goa Police, including women police companies, NCC and school students.
Parsekar in his speech recalled the achievements of his government in taking Goa to new heights.
“Despite receiving liberation 15 years later than the rest of the country, we have retained our premier place in terms of education, health and other indicators,” Parsekar began.
He listed his government’s achievements including schemes, investments in infrastructure such as the Mandovi and Zuari bridges, new primary schools, better infrastructure for primary schools, as well as policies that have lead to the creation of jobs, and importantly the schemes that his government introduced.
“Goa can very well be a model State for the rest of the nation,” Parsekar concluded.
The function also saw Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar hand out police medals to several officers and other eminent persons in their respective fields.
