Chief Minister Pramod Sawant along with a host of BJP leaders, including Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar virtually hopped from one location to another at Margao to scout for a suitable place to host the Viksit Bharat programme at Margao to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 6.

The Prime Minister is arriving in Goa on February 6, to inaugurate the India Energy Week at the ONGC complex, Betul. On the same day, the government is organising a massive Viksit Bharat camp cum rally which is expected to be inaugurated by Modi.

The Chief Minister with MLAs Kamat and Tuenkar, besides ex-MP Narendra Sawaikar, former MLA Damu Naik all descended at Fatorda in and around the KTC bus stand to scout for land to host the programme.

The team descended at the KTC bus stand around Saturday noon and took stock of the land availability with KTC officials. After being informed that the sprawling KTC bus stand plays host to land admeasuring around 50,000 square meters, the team has virtually okayed the site for the proposed site subject to other conditions.

The CM also descended near the SAG swimming pool area to take stock of the land available at the ground.

A suggestion was also made to the Chief Minister to explore the possibility of using GSUDA land admeasuring 1.28 lakh square meters near the wholesale fish market, but Sawant is believed to have favoured the KTC bus stand site for the proposed program.

The Chief minister told The Goan that today’s exercise is just a preliminary exercise to find out the right location to host the Viksit Bharat rally and  exhibition.
