More than 10 years after a complaint was lodged at the Margao police station against citizens of Aquem for protesting against a construction project at the famous Costa grounds, the complainant Manjunath Dukle has submitted before the trial court that he does not wish to proceed with his complaint.
In his submission made in the court on Friday, Dukle said that he is amicably resolving the dispute between him and the accused. Pointing out that there is a pending civil case, Dukle further submitted in the court that “whoever wins the case, shall benefit out of the said case and therefore, I do not wish to proceed with my present complaint and the same I say out of my own free will and without threat from any persons.”
During cross examination, the complainant said it is not true to suggest that he had filed a false complaint, further stating that it is not true to suggest that he is deposing falsely.
Dukle, the owner of the property in question, had filed a complaint against the citizens of Aquem agitating against the construction project on the famous Costa grounds. The citizens had launched a sustained agitation on the grounds that the Costa grounds is the only place available for recreation not only for the local residents, but to the citizens for the entire Aquem area.
Saying the incident had occurred on August 31, 2013, Dukle submitted before the Court that he had brought construction material to construct an access over the nullah. He, however, alleged that the accused had obstructed him and started abusing him with filthy language before he lodged his complaint at the Margao police station.
