The New Year has begun on a profitable note for staff at Canacona Municipal Council (CMC), with the council agreeing to implement the benefits of 7th Pay Commission to its 20 employees.
At a CMC meeting attended by all ten councillors recently, CMC Chief Officer Raju R Dessai presented the proposal to implement the 7th Pay Commission and informed the councillors that if the 7th pay scale are implemented for its 20 employees, it would create an additional burden of Rs 1 lakh per month to the municipal's coffers.
During a discussion on the issue, Mastimoll Councilor Kishore Shet said the staff should get benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, but at the same time added that the administration should properly maintain the roster and seniority List, while also writing and maintaining the CR's of officials in order.
"The staff should also be immediately paid their eligible medical allowances," suggested Shet, before the proposal was approved unanimously to implement the 7th Pay recommendations.
In another key decision, it was resolved to implement 67 small and big development works in 10 municipal wards, with Chairperson Gaunkar agreeing to accept further proposals for development.
