CMC inspects Patnem beach road amid protests

CANACONA

A municipal engineer from the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) inspected a road leading to Patnem beach coast in the presence of Ward Councillor Shubham Komarpant and a large number of locals, amid allegations that the access had been blocked by a land owner in Canacona.

When CMC Municipal Engineer Dilkush Gaonkar went to inspect the blocked passage, locals gathered at the site complained that the land owner had not only blocked the passage, but had even destroyed the tarred surface which had been laid 24 years ago.

The locals claimed that the blocked road would make it difficult for fishermen in the locality to load their fish baskets in rickshaws/pickups for transportation.

Councillor Shubham Komarpant informed the municipal engineer about the road which was tarred 24 years ago, adding that he has complained to the Deputy Collector of Canacona, GCZMA, forest department, CMC and other departments concerned in this regard.
