MARGAO
Lending strength to the party-backed Vibrant Margao campaign for the ensuing Margao Municipal polls, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday hopped from one ward to another in the city with a plea to Madganvkars to bring about a change in the Margao Municipal Council to make the state’s commercial capital a clean and beautiful city.
The Chief Minister is expected to return to the Fatorda area of the Municipal area on April 20 to drum up support for the party-backed candidates, indicating the serious bid made by the ruling party to ensure that the Lotus blooms in the city on April 23.
The Chief Minister also visited the place near Cine Lata basti and offered prayers at the Renuka Devi Yallama Temple. Dy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar also joined the Chief Minister near Cine Lata in Ward No 14 where his niece Dr Ronita Ajgaonkar is contesting on the Vibrant Margao banner.
While saying that inputs received from sources clearly show the BJP-backed Vibrant Margao is ahead of others in the fray, the Chief Minister on Sunday made an appeal to the people to strengthen and cooperate with the government to bring about both infrastructure and human development in the commercial capital.
He told the media persons that the coming together of both Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai will not make much difference for the BJP, suggesting that the opposition leaders have been always together.
The Chief Minister kicked off his campaign in Ward No 15 where party candidate Uday Desai is challenging Digambar Kamat’s Model Margao candidate and sitting Councilor Manoj Masurkar. “I have not come here to promise infrastructure development of the city, but to reassure the youth that my government is also concerned about human development,” he said.
Saying that every person should get employment, including those who fail to clear the SSC and Higher Secondary Board exams, the Chief Minister said around 10,000 vacancies in various government departments will be filled up in the coming months.
“We need your support to bring about a change in the commercial capital. Burning issues such as garbage are pending because of politics. We need the Council to promote a new city. I am 100 per cent confident that Madganvkars will elect Vibrant Margao to power. But, you also have a task to tell your relative and people and convince them to vote for the party-backed candidates”, he asid.
BJP Margao Mandal chief Rupesh Mahatme told the people that Vibrant Margao has promised to resolve pending issues such as bus stand, sonsodo and garbage in the manifesto after consulting our party leaders.
GF inducts 60 new members
MARGAO: Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai on Sunday inducted 60 new members into the party fold, claiming these new members have all come from the Aam Aadmi Party. “We welcome the new members to our Goa Forward family, and they will certainly be a driving force of a united Team Goa. Together we will all move forward in unity, and I am glad to see that so many people from different backgrounds are placing their trust in our party and our ideology”, he said.
He said these 60 individuals bear testimony to the fact that Goa Forward is the only hope for a Goemkar-centric Goa, and that governance under the BJP, which only lives and works for crime and corruption, is dead.
Javed, a former AAP supporter from Ward No 4 in Chandrawaddo said, “we have extended our support to Vijai Sardesai because we have seen the true development of Fatorda, and want to be part of a collective cause that works for all Fatordekars”.
He said the Goa Forward Party and Vijai Sardesai have never differentiated between AAP or GFP voters, and always put people first, sincerely working for their development, progress, and well-being. “We are with Vijai Sardesai, and the Fatorda Forward panel”, he added.
