In a major drugs seizure, two Ugandan students who had travelled from Pune to Goa to allegedly sell cocaine were caught red-handed by Mapusa police late Friday night and 205 gms of cocaine valued at Rs 20.5 lakh were seized from them.
The suspects, identified as Sentamu Elvis (29) and Umar Lukwago (27), were staying in India on a student visa.
According to reports, the incident took place at the interstate KTC bus stand in Mapusa, when the two accused had arrived by bus in Mapusa from Pune to deal in the sale of drugs.
Police had been alerted about the presence and laid a trap at the interstate KTC bus stand.
A police team nabbed and detained the two accused as soon as they alighted from the bus.
During a search, Sentamu Elvis was found in possession of 103 grams and Omar Lukwago was in possession of 102 grams. The 205 grams of cocaine is valued at Rs 20.5 lakh in the international market.
They two accused were arrested and were later produced before a Mapusa court, where they were remanded to 6 days in police custody.
The Mapusa police team conducted the raid under the guidance of Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar and supervision of DySP Sandesh Chodankar and North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal.
