History-sheeter attacks two Agonda locals

Police on lookout for accused

Two locals from Agonda were allegedly attacked and injured with sword by a history-sheeter in a midnight scuffle at a restaurant at Agonda beach in the wee hours of Friday.  

According to Canacona police, two neighbours Badal Pagi and Kunal Pagi were attacked with sword at Dhavalkhazan-Agonda by one Jitendra Haliyal alias Jitu, who has been previously involved in a murder.  

In a fight reportedly over drinks at the restaurant, Jitu attacked both Badal and Kunal with a sword and while Badal was wounded on his forehead, left and right hands, Kunal was wounded on his head.  

Both victims, who are neighbours at Dhavalkhazan-Agonda, have been admitted to GMC hospital at Bambolim, where one of the two is reported to be in a serious condition.  

After committing the offence, the accused fled from the scene. Jitu, who is involved in a murder case, convicted and recently out of jail, has gone underground and police are on the lookout for him.  

According to sources, the accused was reportedly staying in a rented room at Parvem-Agonda.  

Canacona police have registered a criminal case under Sections 109 (1) of BNS 2023 and further investigation is in progress by PSI Ajit Velip of Canacona police station.
