Collectors urged to immediately stop illegal stone crushing units

The Sao Jose de Areal Villagers Union has knocked the doors of the North and South Goa district Collectors in the wake of the High Court Judgement dated November 17.

In separate petitions, the Union has demanded that the district Collectors immediately issue order under Section 31 and 33 of the Land Revenue Code to each of the stone crushing units operating without valid conversion sanads to stopwork and restore the lands, not later than 15 days.

Failure to act will constrain the Union to approach the courts again for willful violation and contempt of the court orders, the Union warned.
