Collector’s order calls for strict adherence to SOPs

South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy has invoked Section 144 of the Cr PC to permit certain activities with restrictions, and to restrain the movement of individuals by imposing restrictions in South Goa district.

The Collector’s order has called for strict compliance of the MHA guidelines, dated November 25, which includes covering of face, social distancing, etc. in public places, workplaces and during transportation. 

The order has warned that any person contravening this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Persons above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years are advised to stay at home, except for essential and health purposes.

The order has called for strict adherence to the SOPs prescribed for various activities including the movement by passenger trains, air travel, metro trains, schools, higher educational institutions, hotels and restaurants, shopping malls, multiplexes and entertainment parks, yoga centres and gymnasiums, assemblies and congregations, etc. 

The order under section 144 has permitted activities such as international air travel of passengers, as permitted by MHA, cinema halls and theatres, with up to 50 per cent capacity, swimming pools, only for training of sports persons and exhibition halls, only for business to business (B2B) purposes.

The order has permitted social /religious/ sports/entertainment/ educational/ cultural/ religious gatherings, with up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity, with a ceiling of 200 persons in closes spaces and keeping of the size of the ground space in view, in open spaces. 

However, based on the assessment of the situation, the ceiling may be reduced to 100 persons or less in closed spaces.
