Residents of Collem and Molem in Dharbandora taluka will soon get treated water from the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) which is being constructed near the Malikeshwar temple in Collem at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

Work on the WTP with a capacity of 3 MLD has reached its final stage and efforts are underway to inaugurate the project in December.

The work to lay new water pipelines to supply water from the 3 MLD project as well as the construction of water tanks required for storing water are also nearing completion.

Residents of Collem and Mollem have been facing acute water shortage particularly in March, April and May.

Collem village has about 1,600-1,700 water connections while Mollem village has about 1,000 water connections.

Residents of both villages are expected to get sufficient water supply when the new WTP begins operations.

Dharbandora PWD Assistant Engineer Devidas Borkar said efforts are being made to complete the project as early as possible and launch it in the month of December.

“The 3 MLD project will provide water supply to over 2,500 tap connections in Collem and Mollem villages,” he said.
